From the start of the game to the ALONE mission Ghost and Soap just act like allies, but during and after ALONE they stop being just allies
And in Modern Warfare 3, oh MW3, when Soap dies Ghost stays by his side even when the bombs about to go off. He puts his hand over Soap's heart and accepts that they'll die there, seemingly being ok with it aslong as hes by Soap's side.
Even though he should've gotten up and helped Gaz with the bomb he doesn't. He makes the choice to be selfish and remain right by his side
